How to get rid of fresh stains
No one is immune from minor troubles - accidental cuts, scratches, unexpectedly begun menstruation. What to do with spoiled linens or garments? Regardless of further action, you need to moisten the stained area with cold water from the wrong side.
At high temperatures, the protein tends to collapse, making it harder to wash out the blood. Things are soaked in cold water for 5-10 minutes, then it is drained and repeat the operation again.
You can then use the following.
- Peroxide. To remove the blood stain, cover it with hydrogen peroxide and leave it for 20-25 minutes, then wipe it off with dry tissue or a towel. In order for the peroxide to be more effective in the fight against pollution, the place treated with it must be covered with an opaque film or towel from sunlight. Not recommended for colored textiles - peroxide can discolor it, leaving ugly stains.
- Glass cleaner. Just sprinkle on the fabric and hold for 15 minutes. Then rinse the item in cold water.
- Ammonia. Well helps in the fight against large pollution. To make a home stain remover, dilute 1 spoon (tablespoon) of alcohol with 250 ml of cold water in a spray bottle. Spray on the soiled area and leave for 1 hour, not more, then blot the excess liquid with a dry towel. It remains to rinse the laundry in cold water and hang to dry. This method is not suitable for colored textiles, ammonia may discolor the fabric.
- Baking soda. To make a cleaning paste, stir the baking soda with water at a ratio of 1 to 2. Apply the resulting gruel on the blood stain and wait for the fabric to dry, then wipe off the remaining soda mixture and rinse the item.
- Means for washing. Mix regular table salt and dish gel in a ratio of 1 to 2 and thoroughly rub in the spot previously wetted with cold water. After 30 minutes wash the sheets in the usual way.
If you could not do everything at once, the operation will have to be repeated as much as necessary.
How to remove dried blood?
If scarlet marks on bedding or old clothes, you can use the methods listed above. For efficiency, it is better to combine cleaning compositions with each other for staged cleaning. You can make a stain remover by mixing the following components:
- soda (1 hour);
- hydrogen peroxide (1 hour);
- vinegar (1 hour);
- cold water (2 hours).
If homemade recipes do not help, professional stain removers can be used to remove the blood stain from textiles.
- "Vanish." Good stain remover, suitable for colored textiles. For greater efficiency, it is added not only to the washing machine, but also applied to the stained place before washing.
- Frau Schmidt. Austrian-made liquid powder, the active ingredient is bile soap. It washes well not only old blood stains, but also fat, oil, wine, etc.
- "Udalix Ultra". Stain remover is available in several forms: powder, dry pencil, spray, liquid concentrate. Suitable for colored and white fabrics.
- "Ecover". Natural remedy from environmentally friendly components. Displays traces of blood, grass, oil, etc.
If stain removers could not cope with the scourge, it is not necessary to throw out the thing or turn it into a floor cloth. A small spot can be hidden under the embroidery or appliqué.
How to clean the upholstery
How to wash blood if the upholstery on a sofa is soiled? This is difficult to do, since in most cases the upholstery cannot be removed. The spot will have to wipe over and over again with a cleaning compound and blot dry with a towel or napkin. What should be considered:
- Do not clean the lining upholstery;
- the cleaner is first applied to the sponge, and then to the contaminated area;
- any composition before use should be checked on an inconspicuous area of upholstery;
- Do not use too hot water; blood will sink into the tissue even more.
The easiest way to get rid of scarlet traces with hydrogen peroxide. To clean the sofa or chair, just moisten a cotton swab with a solution and gently proceed with the treatment of pollution. So that it does not spread, increasing in size, it should be done in the direction from the edges to the center. After 5-10 minutes, blot the treated area with a dry towel and repeat the operation again.
How to clean the carpet

- Moisten the soiled area of the mattress well and blot dry with a napkin.
- Treat the dirty area with saline (1 to 1 ratio). Do not rub the mattress, just gently get wet.
- After 15-20 minutes, remove the remaining salt with a clean cloth and blot the treated area of the mattress with a dry towel.
This technique works well if the blood marks are fresh. Old stains are best treated with professional stain removers.
Folk recipes for cleaning clothes
It's a shame if blood stains remain on clothes. Household injuries, falls, nosebleeds - all this is impossible to predict. Red drops can be removed if you know how to wash the blood from different tissues:
- White clothes. Clean well with an aqueous solution of liquid ammonia or salt. For washing it is enough to soak white clothes in cold water with alcohol for 20 minutes. After soaking, wipe the dirt off with a cotton swab moistened with cleaning solution, and then wash it in the machine as usual.
- Jeans. To remove red marks from your favorite jeans, use ordinary baking soda (25 g for 2 cups). Pour the liquid into the contaminated area and wait half an hour. Then, thoroughly rub the stains and wash the jeans by hand or in a typewriter.
- White shirts and blouses. As a rule, they are sewn from fairly thin fabrics, most blouses and shirts must be washed in a delicate mode, so you should choose the stain remover carefully. With the removal of bloody droplets cope starch, it will not spoil the light fabric. Make a homogeneous mush and apply until completely dry. The remnants of starch can be removed with a regular cloth and the shirt washed in a typewriter.
- Outerwear. Blood stains on the sleeves of a jacket or coat is not a reason to “exile” them to the country or to throw them away. You can try to get them out with the help of glycerin, which can be found in any pharmacy or cosmetic store. Moisten a cotton pad or swab in preheated glycerin and clean the jacket. This tool will help get rid of even the old dirt.
- Wool. There is one exotic method to remove blood stains from your favorite sweater. For washing you need a softener for meat, this powder breaks down protein compounds, which is what you need in the case of hemoglobin. Dilute this powder to form a uniform paste, and apply to the contaminated area. Keep the softener on the wool for no more than half an hour and wash it off. Next, soak the sweater in cold water with the addition of ammonia and hydrogen peroxide. After an hour, it can be washed as usual.
- Flax and cotton. Linen or cotton clothes before washing at a hot (+90 degrees Celsius) temperature should be soaked in a cold peroxide solution.
If the first time did not come completely to wash clothes, it is worth trying again.
How to wash in the washing machine
It is difficult to remove bloody traces from textiles using ordinary washing in a typewriter, first of all because of high temperatures.Therefore, it is important to correctly set the mode and know how you can add detergent. It is necessary to erase on the minimum temperatures, and also to use stain removers. If not, you can add to the powder a little salt, hydrogen peroxide, vinegar or ammonia.
