Ways to quickly whiten the tulle at home from yellowness
Among a large number of color, with patterns and multi-colored embroidery curtains, snow-white tulle remains at the peak of popularity. Gentle, airy fabric fills the room with light, purity and radiance, so the hostess will never give up the white curtains for your home.
But after some time, white tulle becomes dull gray or yellow, and even intensive washing in a typewriter (for some types of tulle, only a gentle mode is recommended) cannot solve this problem. However, there is a solution, and experienced housewives are ready to share their tips on how to self-whiten yellowed tulle without damaging the fabric. For example, if you try to brighten the curtain with the help of whiteness based on chlorine, then it will become unusable very quickly.
Why is the new tulle always white, and the last few washes take on a gray tint? It's not about washing, but the fact that the fibers of the fabric absorb dust, soot, cigarette smoke, while fading from the intense exposure to sunlight. That is why the usual washing in the machine will not give the desired effect. It is necessary to connect other, more effective and safe methods.

3 simple but effective ways to whiten tulle
Bleaching curtains with improvised means at home is not a difficult task. If the tulle curtain is new, then the usual washing with soaking will be enough to make it clean and white again. Tulle should not be treated with high temperatures (boil), as some types of fabrics will not withstand such a procedure.
Please note! All bleaching methods that imply soaking in water with special ingredients should be carried out only after pre-washing the curtains in the machine.
A way to restore the color of the old curtains with peroxide, green paint and potassium permanganate
Effective ingredients that will help to quickly wash the tulle, including nylon, are hydrogen peroxide, brilliant green and potassium permanganate. They can be used both individually and in a combined composition.
Important! No need to fear that the manganese solution or brilliant green will give the appropriate color tulle. They will be used in small proportions, and will affect the fibers of the fabric, lightening, but not dyeing them. However, one should be careful, thoroughly stir and filter the composition so that undissolved crystals do not color the fibers.
- Hydrogen peroxide, along with ammonia, is an effective means for ridding tissues of dullness and yellowness and giving them a radiant appearance. Take 5-6 liters of water with a temperature of 30-35 degrees, in which add ammonia and hydrogen peroxide (sold in a pharmacy) in a ratio of 1: 2. Soak the tulle (make sure that all the fabric is immersed in water), leave for half an hour, then rinse with clean water and hang in a sunny place to dry.
- Zelenka + salt - another effective method for getting rid of yellowness. Dissolve 3-4 tablespoons of table salt without a slide in 0.5 liters of warm (up to 40 degrees) water and add 6-8 drops of a brilliant green solution. Leave for 5 minutes to dissolve the salt. Carefully pour the mixture into another container, trying to keep the salt residue and green stains at the bottom. Add a solution of 5-6 liters of warm water and leave the tulle for 5 minutes. The fabric must be inverted several times, then pulled out and squeezed slightly without twisting movements.
- If you have tried several methods and do not know how to whiten tulle at home quickly from yellowness, choose the most effective: a solution that includes hydrogen peroxide and potassium permanganate. It refers to substances in which a violent chemical reaction occurs with the release of oxygen, on the basis of which the bleaching action is carried out. Make a weak manganese solution: add a few manganese crystals to a cup of warm water, achieve a slightly pink color. Add 2 tablespoons of peroxide and pour this mixture into the water for soaking. Leave the curtain in water for 20-25 minutes, then rinse and hang to dry.
A way to reanimate a curtain with green and blue
Blueprint is an old method that was tested by our mothers. It gives to products from white fabric a shining snow-white shade. Unfortunately, this method is used quite rarely, since it was used most often for bed linen. But white sheets and duvet covers are a thing of the past, so blue is rarely available for sale due to falling demand. If you still have old stocks or managed to buy it, do the following:
- 0.5 teaspoon of blue water, pour in 8-10 liters of warm water. Stir the solution to avoid lumps, and rinse the curtain in it. Rinse the final rinse in clean water.
- If you did not manage to find a bluing, then instead of it take the first-aid kit. To enhance the effect, add 2-3 tablespoons of salt.
Actual! If you want to shorten the duration of washing and bleaching tulle, then start a regular machine wash, but with the addition of special ingredients. Add salt (2-3 tablespoons) or hydrogen peroxide (6-10 tablets should be taken per wash) in the compartment with detergent, and then the bleaching process will occur automatically with the wash.
The way to update the tulle: universal liquid ammonia
Ammonia (ammonia) for recovery in white tulle curtains is used together with hydrogen peroxide. This tandem guarantees amazing white effect. However, if the curtain is not heavily contaminated, then ammonia can cope with the problem on its own.
- Add in 5-6 liters of cold water 2-3 tablespoons of ammonia.Wash the tulle in a typewriter and put in the solution for 15-20 minutes. Rinse the tulle with several clear waters.
Attention! Be careful with ammonia and do not inhale it. Carefully add it to hot water, because ammonia vapors can easily get into the respiratory tract.
Shop whitening products
The easiest way to update an old curtain is to use store supplies. They are convenient and easy to use, do not require additional activities. Bleaching agents are added to the compartment of the washing machine for conditioning or with detergent.
But in the store there are not only advantages, but also disadvantages. So, these funds can not be attributed to the category of cheap goods. But this is not the most important thing - they can still spoil the fabric. Most often, the store bleach action is aggressive. They use complex chemical reactions that "corrode" tissue fibers. From one application, of course, the tulle will not collapse, but if you use them all the time, your tulle curtain will not live long.
The most popular store chemical bleach
- Whiteness, Liby, Ace - chlorine-based bleaching agents. They give a quick effect, as a result of which the fabric becomes snow-white. However, the use of these tools, due to complex chemical reactions, thinner fibers of tissues, making them fragile. After several applications, they become ineffective, and the tulle gradually turns yellow again.
- Vanish, Persol, Boss, Amway, Dr.Beckmann - oxygen products. Do not have a damaging effect on the fabric. Suitable for bleaching many materials, including curtain. Means are effective for several uses, after which they no longer work.
- Heitmann, Vanish - products containing reflective particles. As a result of the use of tulle gets perfect white color. Unfortunately, the effect does not last long. In addition, the actual bleaching does not occur, only visibility is created.
The use of store funds gives a short-term, albeit quick, effect. In many cases, folk remedies for whitening act much stronger.
Features whitening tulle nylon
Kapron is a delicate, airy fabric that requires delicate handling. If you do not want to get the rags out of the washing machine drum, wash the nylon tulle gently.
This means that it is better not to set the washing temperature above 30 degrees, and the spin speed should not exceed 400.
Naturally, chemical store bleach should be forgotten. But you can use potassium permanganate, which will help remove the yellowness and give the fabric a pure white color.
- Make a solution of potassium permanganate intensely pink (a few crystals to 0.5 liters of water). Let the mixture stand, then gently drain, leaving a sediment at the bottom. Pour it into a 3-4 liter of water at a comfortable temperature for the hands (it should get a delicate pinkish color) and soak the nylon tulle for 5-10 minutes.
- A solution of ammonia with the addition of hydrogen peroxide, as well as salt, is effective for whitening nylon.
Before you whiten the tulle at home from yellowing, determine the type of fabric. The easiest way to do this is by examining the label. It always provides information about the fabric and how to wash it, indicates the methods of cleaning. From the label you will understand exactly how you can update the material, what means to use.
As a result of the correct choice, your tulle will again become perfectly white, pleasing the eye with purity and freshness.
