Tailoring of tulle is a simple handicraft that does not require special sewing skills. It is enough to be able to scribble a straight line on a sewing machine. The pattern of translucent curtains is also light in execution. Of course, you can buy ready-made products or sew to order. But this option will cost more. Moreover, it does not always fit. We sew tulle with our own hands: the nuances of choosing the fabric and method of attachment

How beautiful the tulle assembly will look depends on the material chosen. The main types of fabric that are used for sewing similar products.

  • Organza.
  • Veil.
  • Gas.
  • Grid.

Harmoniously blending in with the room, it complements its design with its texture.

Organza. It is made from polyester. Its main characteristics are lightness, transparency and density. Among the shortcomings - the organza almost completely prevents the penetration of air. But there are a lot of advantages: simple washing, good opaque and dust-proof qualities, the material dries quickly after washing, it is easy to iron, it is almost not wrinkled.

This curtain is very lightweight, airy.

Veil. Thin and light. It, like organza, does not allow air to pass through. Transmits light, but for the lower floors with windows to the north is not quite suitable, because it will create a noticeable shading.

The main advantage is that the veil is simpler than other types of fabric to be laid in coat tails.

Gas. The combination of beautiful appearance, good light and breathable qualities made it the most popular budget option textiles for windows.

A lightweight, transparent fabric of a specific weave, which is called "gas".

Grid. Threads for creating different types of mesh are used various: hard, soft, fluffy, boucle, with Lurex.

It consists of many cells, which can be medium, large or tiny.

How to sew a tulle do it yourself: step by step instructions

There are many different options for how to sew tulle. But the easiest way is to hem the bottom, side cuts and sew curtain tape. Even a beginning seamstress who knows how to sew a straight line on a typewriter will cope with such work.

To sew tulle will not be difficult, because this process is not exhausting and will not take much time.

Before you sew tulle, you need to collect everything you need. You need the simplest set of materials and tools.

  • Fabric cut.
  • Curtain tape.
  • Scissors.
  • Needle and thread.
  • Sewing machine.

The main thing - the desire and availability of relevant materials.

Note! In order for window textiles to lay down in beautiful folds, it is necessary to measure the width of the eaves (not windows!) And multiply the measured value by 2. This will be the amount of fabric needed for curtains with folds.

The master class includes several simple steps.

Step 1. Side seams. Lateral cuts are suture-treated. To do this, we bend the cut to the wrong side by 7 mm and press. Fold over again 2 cm and press or sweep.

Make a line on the edge of the hem, retreating 2 mm.

Step 2. Curtain tape. To the top, on the front side of the product impose a curtain tape (wrong side).

Its edges should extend 1.5–2 cm beyond the top edge of the curtain, 4–5 cm beyond the side curtain.

Council Before sewing, it is necessary to pull out the thread by 7-9 cm so that they are not under the stitching.

Then we turn the product inside out and from the wrong side make the line as close as possible to the lower edge of the ribbon, which will be enlightened through the fabric and will become a guideline.

To ensure that the line runs smoothly, it is better to prearry the ribbon to the canvas.

Now we bend the fabric along with the sewn tape on the seamy side and gently iron the fold. The ribbon allowance, left in advance, bends inward. Threads set aside so that they do not fall under the line. Sew the resulting side bend with a straight line across the width of the tape. This closes the side edge of the braid, and the product looks neat.

After that, we give a line from the inside out on the bottom edge of the ribbon, then on its center.

Important! It is necessary to ensure that the line does not overlap the long thread or eyelets for hooks.

Step 3. Processing bottom. Try on the product to the eaves, adjust the desired height. Treat the bottom of the curtains in the same way as the side seams.

Wrap the side of the lower hem inside and sew.

Step 4. Ironing. To make the product sit well and the assembly was beautiful, it is necessary to iron it well. Ironing should be neatly, not too warming the iron.

Steam mode should not be used. Otherwise the canvas will go in waves.

Step 5. Folds. All that remains to be done is to tighten the long threads and form the folds of the required depth.

The ends of the threads to fix the knot.

Tulle in the kitchen with their own hands: the original model diagonally

Asymmetry reigns in fashion now. Not unusual trend and home textiles. Models called "corner" can hide the architectural flaws of the premises, are suitable for non-standard windows and look modern and original.

The sewing technology is the same as the one above. It differs only in cut.

To make it, the measurements of the width of the cornice are taken and multiplied by 1.5 for small folds, 2 - for large folds. The height of the product is taken depending on the purpose of the room. We lay on the fabric obtained value of the width and height and connect the lines to make a triangle. We leave allowances of 2-2.5 cm for filing and cut out the "corner".

For the bedroom or living room, the full length is taken, for the kitchen, it is better to choose a shorter length - up to the window sill.

How to make beautiful folds or build their own hands?
