Pleated blinds: what is it and how do they look?
Pleated blinds - one of the newest and most modern models of light protection. Visually, they look like classic blinds. But this is only at first glance. The device, materials and other characteristics are different from the Roman roller shutters or classic blinds.
Curtains corrugation are lightweight, elegant design, easy to use, which consists of several simple parts:
Cloth in the form of "accordion"
Pleated - is a small fold, which does not lose its shape, does not sag, allows you to fold and fold the cloth. The direction of the folds, as a rule, is horizontal, but vertical folding is also encountered. The material used is cloth or paper impregnated with a special compound. Treatment with the solution is needed in order to protect the fabric or paper from burning out and getting wet.
Aluminum profile
It is used to secure the mechanism. The eaves and side profiles allow you to set the corrugation so that it hangs loose or fasten it to the sides. If the structure is attached to inclined surfaces, then a cable is added to it for strength.
Control system
With it, the curtains unfold and fold. Types of management may be different, depending on the model:
- Manual adjustment. Special chains or laces are used that collect or dissolve the folds.
- Electric drive The canvas rises and falls under the control of a mechanism that is remotely controlled by a remote control.
- Without adjustment. Installed permanently and do not provide for management.
Pleated blinds on plastic windows: types, methods of fastening, materials
There are several options for pleated models. They differ in the type of movement, method of attachment, the orientation of the folds, type of material.
Roll. On the roller fixed above, the corrugated cloth is turned.
Loose hanging. The device does not involve fixing the canvas below. Cloth secured only on top.
Stretch. Corrugated fabric or paper in them is fixed completely. In the side bars, the string is pulled, which ensures a reliable tension of the fabric or paper.
Up-down system. The system "up-down" allows you to partially open the lower part of the window, and the top.
Vertical. Curtains are fixed on the side, the direction of movement is not up, but to the sides.
Stationary. They are tightly fixed and are not designed for opening or closing. This option is often used on windows of complex or non-standard forms.
Also, there are different ways of attaching pleated curtains to plastic windows. Lightweight allows for different fixation options.
- Fastening on the frame. This method is the most common. Performed using screws and brackets.
- Fixation in the opening. The corrugated panel is attached not to plastic, but inside the opening. Suitable only in cases where there is at least 7 cm distance between the frame and the opening. Ideal option for the deaf, not opening shutters.
- On the wall above the opening. The lightweight system can be fixed not only in the windowed space, but also above it.
The materials used for the production of curtains corrugated or pleated may have different degrees of shade.
- Transparent. The canvas is enlightened completely, well passes the light, but still protects the owners of the room from prying eyes.
- Translucent. Only light is allowed into the room.
- Blackout. Absolutely light-proof shading option. If you close the roll, the room is completely plunged into darkness.
One of the important advantages of corrugation curtains - the ability to choose a design for any style of room. Paper and woven fabric allows you to print different prints that fit every taste and help to create comfort in the room.
Pleated blinds for skylights
Pleated curtains are a great choice for skylights. After all, the unusual configuration of the frames and their inclined position makes it impossible to use classic curtains. Corrugated curtains weigh little, they can be fixed at an angle, and the choice of models is so diverse that any design experiments can be successfully implemented.
Externally, the corrugation for the attic is no different from standard modifications. The difference lies in the method of controlling and attaching the sun protection system. Due to the inclined arrangement of the opening, the curtains are fixed by side slats. Tight mounting does not allow the fabric to sag. And to control at an angle has become possible, use a special leash handle or neck.
How to fix pleated curtains with your own hands?
Depending on where the light-shielding system will be mounted, this or that mounting method is chosen. There may be several.
Mounting in the opening, in bead
Installation is carried out using ceiling and (or) window sill brackets. The choice depends on the model.
The installation scheme consists of several stages:
- Markup. It is necessary to mark the place of installation. To do this, measure the distance from the glass of 3 mm if the canvas is normal and 5 mm if the black out system is used. In order to set the desired distance, an adjusting stop is applied.
- The brackets are screwed with screws.
- If the design involves sub-window brackets, then it is necessary to make a markup for the installation stop. The width of the web is measured first. Then the support is inserted into the installation stop and the installation location is marked. The outer edges of the stops must match the width of the product. Further the hole is drilled and the support is fastened with screws.
- Installing the eaves. The upper cornice is inserted into the ceiling brackets.
- Then you need to fasten the bottom brackets on the bolted support.
Important! When installing it is necessary to ensure that the adjustment cords are located on the outside of the curtains.
Installation on the opening (on the frame, wall)
Installation is carried out in a similar pattern, only for mounting on the opening wall brackets are used. They are screwed to the frame or wall with screws. The cornice is installed in the same way as in the previous case.
Sash mounting
Drilling in this case is not required. Fixation is carried out by cap brackets for each leaf separately. Sometimes there is a subwindow bracket in the package. Then the support is screwed to the bracket with screws.
Important. It is believed that drilling spoils the hermetic properties of the frame, and they begin to let air and moisture through the holes. This assumption is erroneous, since all windows include several air chambers. But if you do not want to drill holes in the frame, you can use cap brackets or double-sided tape for fixation.
How to make paper curtains pleated do it yourself
Buy ready-made pleats and install them - the easiest way out. But there is another option for shading a room from the sun. The device of corrugated curtains is so simple that paper curtains can be done independently.
Materials you need
- Paper. The most suitable option is a cut of wallpaper with a base of non-woven, intended for painting. The paper allows enough light to pass through, and shading well from the sun. The density of the paper will allow for a long time to keep the "accordion" shape.
- Reiki made of wood - 2 pcs. The cross section should be square, 10 x 10 mm.
- Ruler and pencil.
- Rope, cord, ribbon - by choice. The main thing is that the color fits the overall interior.
- Punch or awl.
- Glue.
- Scotch. It will take two kinds: one-sided and two-sided.
- Large bead. She will act as a retainer.
Instruction
Step 1. It is necessary to measure the width and height of the window.
Step 2. Outline the blank on paper using measurements. At the same time to the measured height you need to add 30-40 cm to the future "accordion".
Step 3. Cut the workpiece. Then turn it to the wrong side and iron it.
Step 4. Using a ruler and a pencil, mark up the folds on both sides of the paper. The width and depth of the folds will depend on the design idea.
Step 5. Using the markup, you need to fold the "accordion".To folds turned out more expressive, you can walk along the fold with a ruler. The last fold looks inward.
Step 6. When folded, the "accordion" is punctured in the center by a hole punch. Then a rope is pulled through the hole. The ends are tied, fixed with a bead at the bottom and with one-sided tape on top. If the canvas is wide, then the rope is skipped not in the center, but on the sides, departing 4-5 cm from the outer edges of the paper.
Step 7. Top and bottom are glued with double-sided tape. On both sides of the tape glued strap. The top will be a cornice, and the bottom - a weighting agent. It is possible to fasten the structure to the frame without a strip - using double-sided tape.
Council If the width of the frames is large and the width of the wallpaper is not enough, the canvas can be made by gluing together two strips of wallpaper with tape or glue.
