Any work requires preparation. And such a thing as making your own bed on the podium requires careful preparation. This stage includes:
First you need to take measurements of the premises. The dimensions of the podium are determined by the size of the room. We propose to make a rectangular podium across the entire width of the room. Determine the length of your own as far as the dimensions of the room. You also need to take into account the size of the mattress to navigate how much space will be left.

After the preparatory stage, we proceed to work. It all starts with the basics. And our work begins with the design of the podium, which will be the basis for the bed and drawers.
Attach the frame to the horizontal racks
We start with the placement of the podium. To do this, according to the measurements, draw the height of the fixed beams on the walls, and then check the marks using the construction level so that the resulting podium is level. Then we take the prepared wooden beams and fasten them to the floor and walls with anchors horizontally. Then it is necessary to attach the bars vertically to them, additionally attaching them to the wall. The distance between the lags should be no more than 40 cm for structural strength. We also attach wooden beams to the vertical beams on top, duplicating the lower layer. It turns out a kind of box. This is the podium frame. Now it is necessary to determine the location of the mattress on it.
Depending on the location of the mattress, attach three bars to the podium base for fixing the slats. One should be held strictly in the middle of the intended mattress, the other two on the right and left edge. Then fill the slats on special bars - this will be our bed. It is also necessary to attach several boards to the base along the perimeter of the mattress in order to fix the mattress. At the edge of the frame, we attach to the wall and the base plate of plywood or laminated chipboard (depending on the rest of the material for the bed), which will make up the future headboard.

Now you can proceed to the manufacture and fastening of additional parts.
We collect drawers for beds
In our case, additional details are drawers. This is a very practical and easy to use option. You can also make drawers with hinged doors or shelves. However, we advise the use of drawers.
Attaching guides for boxes
Having made measurements, you can order a finished product and only insert it into the frame. But we offer to make boxes with their own hands. In addition, it does not take much time and effort. It should be noted that the width of the box should be 2.5 cm less than the box in which it will be. In accordance with this, proceed to the manufacture of boxes. We need a sheet of plywood for the bottom, 3 chipboard for the side walls. We fasten these parts with glue. We take one more chipboard and fasten a handle to it, then we attach this board to the rest of the box. The box is ready.
According to the above scheme, make the rest of the boxes, the number of which is provided for existing niches.
Install the second part of the guides on the dividing partitions
To install the boxes will need a few guides. They consist of two parts: the first (two guides) is mounted on both sides of the box, and the second (also 2 guides) is mounted on the frame. This is done with the help of screws, which usually come bundled with guides and screwdrivers.

In essence, we have only the skeleton ready. Now we need to finish. For this purpose it is better to use sheets of plywood.Take plywood sheets prepared along the length or cut according to the measurements made. Cut paste plastic edge. On one side of the applied heat-activated glue. To fix this edge you need to heat it up and tightly attach it to the plywood shear (you can do this with an old iron). Now fasten the processed sheets of plywood to the frame with screws. So it is necessary to cut off the entire podium (for the walls of the bed, we have already fixed the chipboard around the perimeter of the mattress, you can also use plywood for the walls). The podium joint with the floor is covered with a plinth.
The top of the frame is blocked. Repeat these actions in relation to the sides of the frame. It now remains to place the boxes in the appropriate niches, and put the mattress in the space reserved for it.
