Sizes and features of ball guides for drawers.
The design of the ball guides is quite simple, and the mechanism consists of several main and a number of auxiliary parts. If the first includes metal runners and balls, the second is represented by various locking elements and stops made of both metal and plastic.
To understand the principle of the mechanism, let us turn to the simplest representative of the ball guides. — two-section nonseparable. In this case, there are two so-called rails, differing in size and having a specific U-shape, which allows you to place one part inside the other.
Between them (usually above and below) are small balls, resembling similar components of the bearing. In the role of the locking element, preserving the integrity of the structure, a part of the outer rail, at a certain moment limiting the course of the device, acts.

Types of ball guides
Depending on the purpose of the intended use, the ball guides can take on different shapes and have a unique set of functions. Most often they are divided by the following characteristics:
- Hthe difference in the possibility of disassembly into collapsible and non-collapsible;
- TOthe number of "steps" on the two-section and multisection;
- TIpu designs for single-level and multi-level.
As a rule, the final cost of non-separable mechanisms is somewhat lower than their fragmented counterparts. All due to the fact that the latter require special methods of production of the rail and methods of fixing balls on them, which would allow to disassemble and assemble the device freely without fear of losing small parts.
The total price of the guides is also influenced by the number of stages provided, as well as the number of levels involved in the system. This happens for a similar reason - due to the significant complexity of the design of the mechanism.
The role of ball guides in furniture production
Despite the fact that the useful properties of telescopic devices have been evaluated in several areas of activity, the main part of such mechanisms is used in the manufacture of various furniture.
A striking example is the wardrobe with folding bars for hangers, cabinets for shoes and wardrobes with drawers - in general, all those items that can either save space or increase the comfort of living in it.
Ball guides have a positive effect not only on convenience, but also on the efficiency of using furniture. It becomes much easier to clean and get things out, and thanks to free access you can occupy all the useful space of the cabinet.
Ball guides for drawer
The most common use of the mechanism is still drawers, which are equipped with all kinds of cabinets and cabinets. It is not difficult to manufacture the listed household items on your own, and the drawing of the future product only seems complicated.
After all the necessary calculations have been made, and the building itself has been built, it is necessary to switch to the formation of the drawers and the fixing of the sliding device.
With the installation of the latter on your own furniture, there will also be no problems, and before calculating the parameters of the cells, you should choose a specific design of the ball guides. This should be done because different representatives of the mechanisms are of different sizes (first of all, the thickness is different).
Having decided on a type of telescopic devices, you can proceed to the calculation of the basic parameters of the drawer.
Drawer width, length and height
When calculating this characteristic, you can not blindly repeat the size of the case.
To this must be added a technological gap that compensates for measurement errors and ensures free movement of components.
Thus, the width of the drawer is calculated by subtracting from the same parameter of furniture the doubled thickness of its outer walls, double the thickness of the mechanism and double the size of the gap.
However, its calculation is much easier - it is enough to reduce the available distance by the size of the next gap.
In this case, it is selected from the following considerations:
- DThe inner side of the box should not be in contact with the inner wall of the case;
- Dthe length of the drawer should not exceed the length of the box, or it should be taken into account when calculating the latter (add the required value to the gap size);
- ATThe height of the drawer is usually less than its faceplate.This allows you not to worry about the functioning of the piece of furniture in case of overfilling of the compartment.
The technological opening (gap) not only provides the movement of the boxes, but also eliminates any interaction between them.
In other words, it is necessary to provide such a distance that the front panels of nearby sections do not touch each other, because this is the main cause of damage to the furniture facade.
If the guides are non-separable, then you first need to attach them to the inner walls of the cabinet or cabinet, and only then - directly to the boxes. In the case of a collapsible mechanism, there are no restrictions on this, that is, the installation of the relevant parts can be done in any order.
